CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19): CLUB PRECAUTIONS - Updated 13/03/2020

13/03/20 Ironsides Rugby Coronavirus (COVID 19) Latest Update:

Due to the constantly changing situation surrounding Coronavirus (COVID19), Ironsides Rugby are actively working to keep you keep you informed. We are following advice from the gov.uk and NHS websites, as well as RFU England on how this may affect our plans over the coming weeks & months.
All club members (and their guests) are advised to defer to the gov.uk and NHS websites for the most up-to-date advice:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

As it stands today 13/3/20:
From today the public are being advised to stay at home (self-isolate) without any testing for COVID-19, regardless of travel history or contact with confirmed cases, if they have:

- a high temperature (of 37.8 degrees centigrade or higher) OR
- a new continuous cough

This will help to protect others in your community while you are infectious.
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.
Please refrain from attending training, matches or the clubhouse.

After 7 days of self-isolation, people who feel better and no longer have a high temperature can return to their normal routine. If they have not had any signs of improvement after 7 days and have not already sought medical advice, they should use NHS111 online (people should only call NHS111 if they cannot get online) before they leave their home or let visitors in.

A cough may persist for several weeks in some people, despite the coronavirus infection having cleared. A persistent cough alone does not mean someone must continue to stay at home for more than 7 days

How to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus

DO:
- wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
- always wash your hands when you get home or into work
- use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
- cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
- put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
- try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
- BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE TO TRAINING AND GAMES

DON’T:
- do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

Ironsides Rugby is committed to looking after the wellbeing of all our players and members and we have therefore put together an action committee to specifically to deal with COVID-19. This is made up of Club president and chairman, Chairperson from each section, Communications representatives, Medical and safety officers. This committee will ensure that all decisions will be made considering national guidance and advice, as well as protecting the members of the club without creating unnecessary panic or concern. One action that has already been taken is to schedule enhance cleaning of the clubhouse. This will continue until further notice.

We ask that any queries relating to this are directed to your relevant section chairperson.  We would ask that if you develop symptoms please contact your relevant Section Chair or the Club’s Medical (physio@ironsidesrugby.com) by email as soon as possible so that we can keep a register of those that are self-isolating. This helps us to make informed decisions considering scheduled competition commitments.

As it stands today, it is very much business as usual until told otherwise. We plan to continue with scheduled fixtures and will let you know if/when this changes.
If you have plans to attend tours or festivals, please refer to the government guidelines for your destination. In consideration of the impact on first-line health services, we would also ask that you do not commit to any additional festivals/tours other than those already booked.
If you have any concerns, please contact either the Club Medical Officer or your Section Chair.

Kind regards
Kathleen Frost
